Environment

At Hungry Jack’s, we’re mindful of our environmental responsibility and we continuously strive to reduce our impact. Our restaurants incorporate eco-friendly features designed to support sustainability, while our packaging reflects our commitment to using materials that are more considerate of the planet. We’re also working to minimise energy use across our operations and exploring ways to further enhance our environmental practices. These efforts reflect our dedication to making positive changes while continuing to serve the flame-grilled favourites you love.

Packaging

PACKAGING

At Hungry Jack’s, we’re serious about doing our bit for the environment. That’s why we’ve made sure our packaging is compliant with national environmental standards and are working hard to reduce single-use plastics. We’ve replaced straws altogether with sippy lids, while still offering paper straws for those who prefer to use one. We’ve also introduced recyclable and compostable packaging. We’re taking steps to minimise waste and protect our planet. Together, we can make a difference!
Solar

SOLAR INSTALLATION

We have rolled out a progressive solar panel installation program for both new and existing stores to reduce our environmental footprint. In 2024 alone, solar systems were installed at 16 existing sites across the east coast of Australia. This is enough to offset carbon emissions equivalent to planting 4,160 trees and growing them for 20 years. Building on this success, Hungry Jack’s plans to install solar systems at an additional 30 restaurants in 2025.
LED Lighting

LED Lighting

At Hungry Jack’s, we are embracing energy-efficient solutions with the installation of LED lighting across our restaurants. LED lights consume significantly less energy compared to traditional lighting, helping to reduce our environmental impact while lowering energy costs. Their longer lifespan also means less frequent replacements, contributing to reduced waste. This initiative is part of our broader commitment to sustainability, ensuring our operations are environmentally and economically responsible.
Rain Water Harvesting

RAIN WATER HARVESTING

We are implementing rainwater tanks and harvesting systems at selected restaurants to collect and store water to be reticulated around the site. This means that the precious water that would otherwise end up in the stormwater systems can be saved and used to water the plants and gardens.
EV Charging Station

EV CHARGING STATIONS

We introduced electronic vehicle (EV) charging stations at selected restaurants. These stations provide convenient charging options for electric vehicle owners, helping reduce carbon emissions and promoting cleaner transportation. By integrating EV charging infrastructure, we aim to create a more sustainable and convenient experience for our customers and contribute to a greener future.
Recycling

RECYCLING

We are dedicated to minimising our environmental footprint through responsible recycling practices. We currently recycle cardboard, used cooking oil, and e-waste across our network. By keeping waste out of landfills, we help safeguard natural resources and reduce pollution.
