Our Crew/Manager Young Endeavour Youth Program

In 2006 Rebecca Southam who is a Junior Cadet Manager at our Hawthorn store in South Australia was the first person who got the chance to go on an all expenses paid for trip of a life time. She got on board a 44m long tall ship called the Young Endeavour and helped sail it from Sydney to Port Stephens or so far as Eden on the NSW/VIC border. It was an 11 day voyage that changed her life.

This was an experience that she will never forget, a sense of adventure and willingness to push herself to the limit and it taught her more about herself than one could possibly imagine. It also helped her improve on her commitment, confidence and teamwork skills which are all self aspects and skills that are vital in our roles at Hungry Jack's.

The Young Endeavour travels the coastal waters of Australia and it requires young, self motivated, dedicated team people who can show leadership skills on board that will help sail it to its destination.

Each year a new person from one of our stores will get to go a sail. On board they will meet 23 other young people from all around Australia taking the same plunge. Expert guidance from the professional Navy Crew will assist them in all aspects of sailing such as climbing the mast, setting the sails, navigating, keeping watch, taking the helm and helping in the gallery.

How unreal does that sound? Just ask Rebecca, she will tell you.
